The Story Behind the Square...

"I was inspired to make my quilt square by a woman named Charity Ray, an alumni of the Mars Hill Anderson Rosenwald School. I met her in 2018 when Paige interviewed her for an oral history project about attending the school. As part of this project, I had the opportunity to visit her home and go to her church.I learned of her love for painting birds and baking cakes for her church. Each piece on my quilt square reminds me that she truly lived up to her name, Charity."
